Liverpool XI vs Leeds: Lineup expected, squad news confirmed, latest Premier League injury

Breaking squad news with Liverpool ready for a push as they travel to Elland Road

Liverpool will have Luis Diaz back in their squad when he travels to Leeds on Monday night.

The winger has been out since October when he picked up a knee injury against Arsenal before suffering another setback when he returned to training in Dubai during the World Cup.

That issue required surgery, but Jurgen Klopp confirmed Diaz is now fit and available ahead of the trip to Elland Road.

“He is 100% ready and he is training, now we have to reinstate him,” Klopp said on Friday. “He IS in the selection if nothing happens. “We’re happy to have him back, he’s a breath of fresh air. He can’t train without a smile on his face. We need to see how we can bring him back step by step.”

Diaz is likely to be named on the bench and return to action, but Darwin Nunez will hope to return to the starting line-up after being one of the substitutes in last week’s dramatic draw with Arsenal. He could replace Diogo Jota, while Cody Gakpo goes to center.

Making his first appearance off the bench against the Gunners in two months, Thiago is a ‘starter candidate’ at Elland Road, with Curtis Jones possibly the player to retire if that happens. Klopp revealed Ibrahima Konate missed two days of training this week but is expected to return on Friday, while Alisson is also out of the main pack and will train on his own. Both seem available against Leeds

“A little malaise here and a knock there,” Klopp said. “We’ve had some problems and hopefully we won’t have any more.”

Liverpool XI Prediction: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago; Salah, Nunez, Gakpo
