What Roberto Firmino gifted Liverpool staff as a striker says ‘thank you’ with a classy gesture.

Roberto Firmino will become a free agent this summer, ending his eight years at Liverpool

Many would have thought Roberto Firmino’s crucial equalizer against Aston Villa during his time at Anfield would be his last contribution, but he had another trick up his sleeve.

The trophy-laden Brazilian’s eight-year tenure will come to an end this summer after he decided to end his career with the Reds. Firmino scored 110 goals in 361 games on Merseyside, making one of his main contributions to keeping alive the faint hopes of Champions League football at the weekend.

It remains to be seen where the converted striker under Jurgen Klopp will go next, but the exit is underway after it was confirmed he will not extend his stay on Merseyside beyond an eighth year.

As the final parting gift from Liverpool fans, Firmino was immortalized and joined an exclusive club with murals near the hallowed turf of Anfield. The 31-year-old bid an emotional farewell outside the Kop on Saturday after a 1-1 draw with Villa in the final home game of the season.

A party was thrown for the former Hoffenheimer on Sunday, with captain Jordan Henderson leading the tributes. And on Wednesday, Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg posted footage showing the contents of the giveaway given to the 200 guests.

In a tweet, he said: “He prepared 200 goodbye gift boxes. He presented them to his guests in Liverpool on Sunday evening – including club staff, teammates, friends and family. “The gifts included a special shirt signed by him and a perfume specially created by Firmino. The party was very emotional. Discussions with potential new clubs will start now. Out of respect for Liverpool, he did not consider other teams so far. #LFC.”
