Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag talks to striker Rasmus Hojlund
Rasmus Hojlund only joined Atalanta last year but is considered by Man United as a potential striker.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has had several video calls with Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.
Hojlund, 20, has been identified as an achievable target by Ten Hag, with United expecting Tottenham not to sell Harry Kane.
According to sources, agency SEG International, which represents Ten Hag, is also trying to get Hojlund as a client.
Denmark international Hojlund scored 15 goals in 41 games for Atalanta after joining Italy last year from Austrian club Sturm Graz. He has plundered five goals in his last two games for Denmark.
Ten Hag admitted last month to talking to potential targets when he said the players were “excited” to join United.
“I see a big difference from last year,” said Ten Hag. “Last year there were a lot of reservations when I spoke to the players and now many players see the project, what’s going on, the dynamics and the ambition in this project, especially the quality. They really want to come, I’ve noticed. ” That. “It seems like there were a lot of reservations and doubts last year when we approached the players. There are really a lot of good players who want to come this year.
United also continue to monitor Eintracht Frankfurt goalscorer Randal Kolo Muani. Muani scored 23 goals in 45 games for Eintracht, who finished seventh in the Bundesliga.
Both Eintracht and Atalanta failed to qualify for the Champions League, which could ensure a smoother exit for potential buying clubs. Muani and Hojlund both have contracts until 2027. Atalanta are known for developing quality young players and United have bought Amad from them for a sum which has risen to £37m by 2020.
Last year, United held talks with striker Benjamin Sesko’s representative, also developed in Austria at Red Bull Salzburg.
