FA Cup final player ratings: Man United 1-2 Man City
Manchester United lost 2-1 to Man City in the FA Cup final this afternoon. Here are our player ratings for the game.
David de Gea 1 – Gundogan’s goal may have been unstoppable, but kneeling couldn’t stop it. Shortly after, he was also taken on the wrong foot, but got away with it unscathed. The second goal was absolutely inexcusable. Terrible distribution. Hard to imagine United not signing a goalkeeper this summer. It cost us two trophies this season.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 8-he He did really well, he had Grealish in his pocket. Bad luck to be booked at half-time for a tackle that should have been an interception, not a tackle.
Raphael Varane 7.5 – A few times out of position but overall kept Haaland calm. Could have scored with a header from a corner at the end of the first half and another at the end of the second half that hit the crossbar.
Victor Lindelof 7.5 – Well done.
Luke Shaw 8.5 – Shaw command. United’s best player today.
Casemiro 8 – Holds the midfield together as those around him falter.
Fred 3 – One of Fred’s terrifying performances. Couldn’t get close to De Bruyne and didn’t deliver anything special either offensively or defensively.
Bruno Fernandes 8 – Played well and converted the penalty well.
Christian Eriksen 3 – As bad as Fred, if not worse. He moved and thought slowly and was pickpocketed on numerous occasions. Submerged right.
Jadon Sancho 5 – Poor, under accomplished, seemed overwhelmed and scared for the most part. Slightly better in second place. Nice walk in the box.
Marcus Rashford 7 – Cut a frustrated figure up front. Isolated and had very little to eat. It looked like he could do anything, given half the chance.
Substitute:
Alejandro Garnacho 8 – Immediate effect. Immediate upgrade to Sancho. His 5-year deal is great to go out this season.
Wout Weghorst 6 – No real impact.
Scott McTominay 5-he Should have made it in the end. What a miss.
