Man Utd fans make Marcus Rashford demand after footage following FA Cup final defeat

Man Utd fans demand footage of Marcus Rashford after FA Cup final loss

Some Manchester United fans have called on Marcus Rashford to become the club’s new captain after comforting two team-mates following the 2-1 loss to Manchester City.

Following Manchester United’s FA Cup final loss to Manchester City, Marcus Rashford showed his class as he comforted his teammates after the final whistle.

Rashford, 25, has impressed for the Red Devils this season but enjoyed a quiet afternoon at Wembley as City won 2-1 thanks to Ilkay Gundogan’s brace. Bruno Fernandes scored United’s only goal on a disappointing afternoon for United who ended the season with a top four finish and a Carabao Cup medal.

After the match, some United stars burst into tears and lay down on the pitch in dejection. Wout Weghorst and Alejandro Garnacho were among those who didn’t look particularly happy, while Bruno Fernandes looked completely shocked in the background. However, a video on social media is making the rounds of Rashford going to Weghorst and Garnacho to offer some support following his team’s loss. He went over to Weghorst and pulled him up instead of sulking on the ground, before picking up Garnacho and giving him advice in the ear.

Rashford has since been praised by United fans for what he had after the final whistle and many believe he should be a future captain. One commented, “Nice class from Marcus Rashford, lifting dejected teammates after defeat. Future club captain in the making.” Another added: “He was also the first to congratulate the City players, which I thought was classy. I have a feeling he’ll be gone this summer.”

Rashford also took to Instagram after the game to give his assessment of United’s game and campaign as a whole. He said: “This match meant everything to us today, but it shouldn’t have been! It’s clear that progress has been made throughout the season, but we need to keep improving and come back even stronger next season.”
