Fred approves transfer as Manchester United consider sale

Man United could look to sell Fred in the summer transfer window to sign a new midfielder.

Fred admits he needs to discuss his future with Erik ten Hag as Manchester United consider selling him in the summer transfer window.

The Manchester Evening News revealed earlier this week that Fred had become a target for Fulham given his uncertain future at Old Trafford.

Fulham manager Marco Silva was filmed talking to Fred after their last Premier League clash and intermediaries have already suggested a possible move for the 30-year-old this summer.

Fred was the only outfield player to feature in United’s every-day squad this season but he could leave as United are looking for a younger midfielder. The Brazil international started in the FA Cup final defeat to Man City, but his poor performance could be his last competitive appearance in a United shirt.

“Obviously I always want to play, help my team, and today I’m glad I started, and I think we played well,” he told TNT Sports.

When asked about the future of his move, he added: “I still don’t know, I need to talk to my family. I still have one year left on my contract here. Now it’s the holidays and a good chance to rest, I’ll talk to my staff , at the club and see what everyone’s decision is.”

“I also have to talk to Ten Hag, he’s the manager and the conversation needs to be about everyone. We’ll have to wait and see how next season goes. I want to be important; I want to help the team, so we’ll see. But I was and still am very happy at Manchester United.

Man Utd news: Casemiro asking for spending money as Rasmus Hojlund asked for price has been learned

Manchester United’s season has now officially ended following their 2-1 FA Cup Final loss to Manchester City, and they can now focus fully on preparing for next season

Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge of Manchester United ended in disappointment as they were beaten 2-1 by rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

However, it was a largely successful campaign for United who, as well as being FA Cup finalists, won the League Cup and sealed a return to the Champions League by finishing third in the Premier League.

The takeover saga also drags on, as it has been more than six months since the Glazers announced the club was up for sale. Here are the latest titles from Old Trafford.

Transfer target spotted during FA Cup Final

Manchester United have long been linked with Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, who was reportedly one of Ten Hag’s main targets when he first accepted the job last summer. However, a move never materialized and Timber remains an Ajax player, although he has stated he is open to a departure this summer. He told Dutch publication Ziggo Sport: “It’s the same situation for me as it was last season. When I say I’m leaving, he has to adapt.

“The opportunity is there, it can happen.” United are again among the clubs interested in his services and Timber has been spotted at Wembley ahead of the FA Cup final, further fueling the rumours.

Casemiro urges Man Utd to spend big

Midfielder Casemiro has admitted United will have to spend big this summer if they are to compete with City.

Speaking ahead of the FA Cup final, Casemiro said: “When first-class players arrive, quality players, they are always welcome. We always want good players and the more options you have, the more important it is to have as much quality as possible in the squad.

“The chance is there, it can happen.” United are again among the clubs reportedly interested in his services and Timber was spotted at Wembley ahead of the FA Cup final, further fueling the rumours.
