Town Toyota Center defrauded $250,000 by Imagine Dragons agent impersonator, expects to be fully reimbursed

WENATCHEE – The Town Toyota Center was defrauded of $250,000 last month after it transferred funds to an impersonator posing as an agent for the band, Imagine Dragons, in an attempt to schedule them for a performance. The Town Toyota Center was introduced by its booking agency, Los Angeles-based Harmony Artists, to an individual identifying themselves as James Whitting of Wasserman Music, the management company for Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum band Imagine Dragons, according to a Town Toyota Center news release.

The Town Toyota Center wanted to reserve the band for a concert on June 21, 2025. Imagine Dragons is scheduled to perform on the same date in Naples as a part of their world tour. Jerrilea Crawford, board president, said in an email Monday that the board was made aware of the opportunity to book Imagine Dragons in their Aug. 22 board meeting.

“Consistent with prior practices, the contract required the (the Town Toyota Center) pay $250,000 in advance, with the TTC wire transferring funds on Aug. 23, 2024,” according to the news release. “About 3 weeks later, the TTC discovered that the person claiming to be James Whitting was an impersonator. It promptly contacted its booking agent, bank and its own insurance provider, with Harmony Artists currently working with its insurance company to reimburse the TTC.”

The Town Toyota Center has worked with Harmony Artists for about 16 years. The booking agency recently brought country music band Alabama to the Town Toyota Center for $250,000. The Town Toyota Center expects to be fully reimbursed from its booking agent, according to the news release. The events leading up to the $250,000 wire transfer on Aug. 23 are under review. The Town Toyota Center is managed by the Greater Wenatchee Regional Events Center Public Facilities District, a seven-member board.
