Fasusi, ranked the No. 2 offensive lineman in the nation, had been committed to OU since August. However, as signing day neared, rumors swirled after he visited both Texas and Texas A&M. Despite the buzz, the 6-foot-5, 295-pound lineman chose to stay loyal to the Sooners, who had been there for him from the start.
“I just trust them,” Fasusi said, reflecting on his decision. “OU’s been there for me and my family, through everything. They’ve never wavered. It just felt right to stick with them.”
For Fasusi, this wasn’t just about football. It was about trust, mentorship, and personal growth. The relationship he formed with Oklahoma’s coaches—especially offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh—played a crucial role in his commitment. “I see Coach Bedenbaugh as a father figure,” Fasusi shared. “He and Coach Venables have helped me not just in football, but in life.”
Despite the allure of other top programs, Fasusi’s connection to OU’s staff and his belief in their vision for his future proved stronger. “OU has always been there for me,” he added. “I feel at home, and I trust where they’re taking me.”
Fasusi is part of a dynamic offensive line class at OU, joining other highly-rated recruits like Ryan Fodje and Darius Afalava. Together, they aim to reshape the Sooners’ future with their work ethic and determination.
As he prepares to head to Norman, Fasusi is focused on one goal: “I’m ready to play, have fun, and win a championship with my teammates.” With the foundation of trust and commitment beneath him, the sky’s the limit for this rising star.
