Kansas State Basketball 2025: Women Take on CU, Men Battle WVU

2025 Kansas State Basketball: Women at Colorado, Men vs West Virginia

The MitteCats are heading to Colorado to take on the Buffs, while the TangCats have returned home to face the Mountaineers.

After a week off to rest and regroup, your Kansas State Wildcats are back on the road, continuing their pursuit of a Big 12 title.

Today, the Wildcats are in Colorado, ready to face a Buffaloes team that upset them in last March’s NCAA Tournament, knocking them out early in Bramlage. While this Wildcats squad is mostly the same as last season, the Buffs aren’t exactly the same team and don’t seem to be on a similar path to the Big Dance.

CU enters today’s matchup with a 12-6 overall record, but only a 3-4 mark in Big 12 play. Their NET ranking of 74 is middle-of-the-pack in the conference, and they are just 1-5 against Q1 and Q2 competition. The Buffs are 9-1 at home this season, with their only loss coming against a Top 25 Louisville team.

Unfortunately, K-State (19-1, 7-0 Big 12) will be without the services of Ayoka Lee, who managed to fracture something in her foot last weekend in the win over Arizona State. But even without the All-American center, the MittieCats are a really really good team.

This is a game K-State should win. And hopefully it’s an emphatic win.

We’ve got a 2:00pm CT tipoff for the game this afternoon from the CU Events Center in Boulder, and you can catch the action on ESPN+ with Thad Anderson (play-by-play) and Kami Carmann Snyder (analyst) on the call.

If you can’t access the stream, the game can be heard across portions of the 28-station K-State Sports Network with Brian Smoller (play-by-play) and Randy Peterson (analyst) calling the action. The game will also be available online at K-Statesports.com and via the Varsity Network app. Live stats are also available at k-statesports.com, and social media updates (@KStateWBB) will also be a part of the coverage.

Kansas State guard Serena Sundell looks toward the basket to score as the Wildcats beat Arizona State 81-69 on Jan. 19 at Bramlage Coliseum.

Welp, we’re closing in on the point of no return.

The NCAA Tournament has been history for a bit now, but the Cats are rapidly running out of time to even get back on track towards an above-.500 finish. The Wildcats opened 2025 at 7-5 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play, but have now lost 6-straight with no end in sight. Last time out, the Wildcats overcame having a 12-point lead to fall 70-62 to a Baylor team that was reeling from injuries and their own inconsistencies.

Jerome Tang has a serious problem on his hands. It only takes three more wins to avoid breaking or tying the worst season in recent K-State history — the 2020-21 team that went 9-20, 4-14 during the Covid season. And this squad doesn’t have the excuse of dealing with a world-changing pandemic during the season.

K-State is not favored at home today against a West Virginia team that is less potent without star transfer Tucker DeVries. But new head coach Darian DeVries still has a good team, and has shown he knows how to run a good program. K-State could win today, but it would take a completely different level of effort than we’ve seen from this group since the start of the year.

Just don’t get embarrassed, please.

We’ve got an 5:05pm CT tipoff for the game this evening from Bramlage Coliseum, and you can catch the action on CBS Sports Network with Jordan Kent (play-by-play) and Mike O’Donnell (analyst) on the call.

If you don’t have that in your provider package, the game can be heard across portions of the 28-station K-State Sports Network with Wyatt Thompson (play-by-play) and Stan Weber (analyst) calling the action. The game will also be available online at K-Statesports.com and via the Varsity Network app, as well as on satellite radio on SiriusXM Ch. 381. Live stats are also available at k-statesports.com, and social media updates (@KStateMBB) will also be a part of the coverage.
