Mets listed as one of the top three potential destinations for the projected $71 million ex-Yankee
The New York Mets have been active this offseason, adding several pitchers and securing Juan Soto in the process.
However, their starting rotation still requires attention, as they lack a true ace. Fortunately, they have options to address this, either by targeting another pitcher in free agency or exploring the trade market.
Right-handed pitcher Michael King is available from the San Diego Padres, and Mike Axisa of CBS Sports has identified the Mets as a potential destination for the up-and-coming ace.
“President of Baseball Operations David Stearns has earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to constructing pitching staffs, though I didn’t expect the Mets to fill out their rotation with Griffin Canning, Frankie Montas, and Clay Holmes after acquiring Juan Soto. With Paul Blackburn recovering from spinal surgery and Kodai Senga dealing with injury issues last season, the Mets could certainly use a more reliable addition to their rotation,” Axisa wrote.
