Red Sox get: Nolan Arenado, Ryan Helsley
Cardinals get: Ceddanne Rafaela, Zach Penrod
This past season. Both of these players were great. Arenado hit .272/.325/.394/.719 with 23 doubles and 16 homers last season, and Hesley pitched in 65 games, posting a 2.04 ERA, 49 saves, 79 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 1.101.
Would the Sox do this trade? Honestly, if the Cardinals are down, the Sox should be as well. The Cards would get Rafaela, who is a potential superstar to be their star of the future, and Penrod, who has proven he might be a star in the making as well. Both have a lot of control, and the Cards can move off of Arenado’s contract to fully commit to the rebuild.
The Sox would get their righty slugger, and their reliever. It’s a win-win, and hopefully they realize that and get to work.
