JUST IN: Ex-Red Sox Star Outfielder Sends Three-Word Suprised Message To The Red Fans

Former Boston Red Sox outfielder  is still searching for a team.

This offseason, he hit the open market looking for a new contract and a fresh start before spring training began. However, he remains unsigned, patiently waiting for an opportunity after his stint with the New York Yankees ended in disappointment.

The 28-year-old struggled in the postseason, batting just .208 while making costly defensive mistakes in the outfield. His final at-bat in Game 5 of the World Series ended in a strikeout, sealing the championship for the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was a fitting conclusion to another underwhelming season forhim. Despite his struggles, he remains hopeful, as suggested by his recent Instagram post captioned: “IN DUE TIME.”

It may have taken him months to gather enough highlights from his Yankees tenure to create the 48-second reel. In 149 games last season, he posted a .233/.291/.356 slash line with 13 home runs and 61 RBIs—numbers that reinforced why the Red Sox benefited from trading him. While his defense has slightly improved, his offensive development remains stagnant, and concerns over his maturity have likely deterred teams from offering a multi-year deal.

Ex-Red Sox Star Ribs Alex Verdugo After Yankees Make Big Change

When Verdugo endured an 11-game slump last August, rather than increasing his time in the batting cages or studying film, he blamed an allergic reaction to the tattoo ink on his hands. According to him, the irritation from the ink interacting with his batting gloves made it difficult to grip the bat. Yes, that was his actual explanation. He even claimed this issue had affected him since 2021.

Despite tying his career high with 13 home runs, his .233 batting average marked a significant drop from the .264 he posted with the Red Sox in 2023. The lone bright spot was being a finalist for a Gold Glove Award, though he ultimately lost to Cleveland’s Steven Kwan.

With no interest in bringing him back, the Yankees made significant roster upgrades, including acquiring two-time All-Star Cody Bellinger and 2022 NL MVP Paul Goldschmidt. Now, Verdugo finds himself without a team, waiting for a call—like a teenager hoping for a text back from a crush.
