The University of Oklahoma’s softball program has secured a major commitment for its 2026 class, landing five-star right-handed pitcher Ella Kate “EK” Smith. Smith, hailing from Katy High School in Texas, announced her decision on October 15, 2024, via her personal X account.

Recognized as the No. 2 overall recruit in the 2026 class by Perfect Game, Smith’s commitment underscores the Sooners’ ongoing dominance in collegiate softball.

Smith played a pivotal role in leading the Lady Tigers to an impressive 39-3-1 record, culminating in a UIL regional final appearance last season. Her outstanding performance earned her a spot on the Houston Chronicle’s All-Greater Houston first team in July. Demonstrating her commitment to the sport and her future team, Smith attended the Patty Gasso Softball Camp in Norman in April, further solidifying her bond with the Sooners.

With Smith’s addition, Oklahoma continues to bolster its roster with top-tier talent, aiming to maintain its championship pedigree in the seasons to come.
