With recent blockbuster contracts like those signed by Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani, star players across MLB are eyeing massive paydays.

However, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has shown that loyalty and class still matter, reportedly making a final contract offer to the Toronto Blue Jays for less than $600 million, according to ESPN.

With no agreement reached, Guerrero is now set to hit free agency after the 2025 season. Since Toronto seems unwilling to meet his price, this could open the door for the Boston Red Sox, who are in the market for a first baseman and would love to bring the 25-year-old star to Fenway Park. Boston, likely willing to offer the long-term deal Guerrero seeks, could make him their cornerstone at first base for years to come.

Guerrero is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, earning his fourth consecutive All-Star selection while hitting .323 with 30 home runs and 103 RBI.

His ability to change a game with a single swing makes him one of baseball’s premier offensive threats. He has carried that momentum into Spring Training, where he is already batting .412 with a home run and three RBI in seven games.

Ranked as the 13th-best player in MLB Network’s Top 100 list in February, Guerrero remains focused on helping the Blue Jays rebound after missing the playoffs last year.

However, if he decides to leave Toronto, the Red Sox could offer him both a winning environment and the lucrative contract he deserves. Adding Guerrero to an already improved roster could be a game-changing move for Boston.
