A blockbuster trade idea has been proposed by Jacob Mountz of Fan Sided, suggesting a deal between the Red Sox and the Miami Marlins that would bring Sandy Alcantara to Boston. The proposed trade would look like this:

Mayer is currently ranked as MLB Pipeline’s No. 12 overall prospect, and Romero is ranked as the Red Sox’ No. 11 prospect.
Alcantara missed the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery, but he’s now healthy and ready to return to form. In 2023, he made 28 starts, finishing with a 7-12 record, a 4.14 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, a 3.1 K/BB ratio, and 184.2 innings pitched. The Red Sox would be hoping for Alcantara to return to his dominant 2022 form, when he posted a 14-9 record, a 2.28 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, a 4.1 K/BB ratio, and 228.2 innings in 32 starts.
While this is just a trade idea, adding Alcantara would elevate the Red Sox rotation to another level.
