Library Hosts Three-Day Book Sale This Week

The Paddison Memorial Branch Library will have over 1,500 books, CDs, DVDs, and records for sale in the library auditorium during its Spring Book Sale Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

There will be a “Children’s Corner” for kids to begin reading their books immediately while their parents continue to shop.

“Book sale proceeds go to promote development of programs, resources, and services that enhance the library,” Friends of the Library board member Cindy Stewart told Scope News. “With some of the proceeds, we will be purchasing children, young adult, and adult book acquisitions selected by the librarians and program materials to support the library.”

The sale will be held at the library, 248 Harmon Lane, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The Paddison Memorial Branch Friends of the Library is a nonprofit organization of volunteers whose mission is to “join together to promote the development of programs, resources, and services that enhance the library as an informational, educational, and cultural center for the community it serves.”

Funds raised by the Friends help augment public funding to make the library complete.

Last year, the library was visited 79,592 times, signing up 2,145 new cardholders and hosting over 6,000 attendees at the 314 programs offered through the year.
