It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Hubie Brown, former head coach of the Atlanta Hawks, at the age of 91. Brown’s legacy in the world of basketball spans decades, leaving an indelible mark on both the NBA and the game itself. Renowned for his vast knowledge of the game and his passion for coaching, Hubie Brown’s influence went beyond mere statistics. His career included stints as both a coach and broadcaster, making him a beloved figure in basketball circles.

 

Brown’s coaching career began as an assistant with the Kentucky Colonels in the ABA before making his way to the NBA, where he became the head coach of the Hawks in 1976. While he only spent a few seasons with the Hawks, his impact was undeniable.
