Paul Naumoff came to UT from Columbus, Ohio and was recruited by HC Jim McDonald. He played his Freshman year of 1963 primarily at WR on the JV team. In 1964 a change was made at the helm with Doug Dickey entering to coach the Vols and Naumoff was switched over to defense. Paul excelled at end but was eventually switched over to LB after the tragic death of Tom Fisher in an auto accident. Naumoff was sensational and earned All SEC and All American honors his senior season as team captain. In one of his last plays for the Vols, Naumoff made a game saving tackle of Larry Csonka against Syracuse late in the ‘66 Gator Bowl with the Vols defeating Syracuse 18-12.
