David Wright Will Become the Manager of the New York Mets

The future of the New York Mets appeared very bright and exciting, with an ownership group poised to spend generously in free agency and compete for top free agents against other major spenders, such as the Dodgers and New York Yankees.
The New York Mets won the bid for superstar Juan Soto and got him to move across town from the Yankees to the Mets, and looked to be one of the favorites to make the World Series this year. The 2024 season started strong, but now the Mets are in jeopardy of missing the playoffs. If that were to happen. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza should be fired.
The New York Mets need to bring in an all-time Met to manage the team, and that’s why David Wright will be hired to become the next manager of the New York Mets.

David Wright to be Next Manager of the Mets
Current manager Carlos Mendoza is in his second season in New York and was a finalist for manager of the year in 2024. It looks like that 2024 magical run could have just been that. Magical, and had nothing to do with his managing and leadership.
Since July 28th, the Mets have been self-imploding their lead in the National League Wild Card race and have lost 14 of 16 games. They now have just a half-game lead over the Cincinnati Reds. Who just got their ace, Hunter Greene, back from injury. The Reds have been playing good baseball and have been pestering for that final wild card slot all season.
Former New York Mets third baseman David Wright was inducted into the Mets’ Hall of Fame this season and had his No. 5 retired. Wright is currently a special advisor within the Mets front office. Wright is already working for the Mets; it could be an easy transition to the clubhouse and help lead this team.
He recently explained when he was on the team and they were struggling, “I was just more of a go to each guy individually and just kind of hear their thought process, or what’s bothering them, or what we could do better. Or just kind of have an open forum as to what they thought was the best way they thought we could pop out of one of these little stretches.”
Sounds a lot like he was already a manager during his playing days. Whatever Carlos Mendoza is doing with the team now is not working, and a new approach must be taken.
End of Season Could Spell The End of Carlos Mendoza in New York
The New York Mets have a difficult stretch of games to finish off the season, including eight to nine teams in the hunt for a playoff spot. A pivotal three-game series in Cincinnati will take place over the first weekend in September. The New York Mets will need to make sure they right the ship before that series is played.
Manager Carlos Mendoza will need a miracle finish like in 2024 to make the playoffs once again, and this time he has Juan Soto on the roster. If Mendoza is unable to take this team to the playoffs, that is grounds for firing. Considering that the roster is made up of most of the playoff team from last year. It’s time to bring in a proven leader in New York, and that is why the New York Mets will hire David Wright to become the next Manager of the New York Mets.
