It’s nearly over: Bitter battle between Fantastic Four’s Ioan Gruffudd and his ex-wife moves toward settlement in closed-doors court hearing
After more than two years of acrimony, legal filings, restraining orders and custody drama, the long-running feud between actor Ioan Gruffudd and Alice Evans appears to be inching toward resolution. According to recent court filings and insider reports, the estranged couple met in a closed-doors hearing late 2025 to hammer out a settlement covering spousal support, child custody, and related orders — raising hopes the saga may soon conclude.
Their divorce had already been legally finalized in July 2023, but that only marked the beginning of an ongoing legal tug-of-war. Gruffudd had filed a domestic-violence restraining order (DVRO) against Evans in 2022, alleging harassment and threats toward him, his new partner, and their shared children. Meanwhile, Evans responded by seeking increased spousal and child support — and at times publicly lamenting her financial struggles.
Over the months, the dispute escalated to include severe allegations: Gruffudd accused Evans of emotional harm and interfering with his relationship with their daughters. He also alleged Evans violated the DVRO by posting disparaging messages and sharing private information about their children. Evans denied the claims, maintaining she had not abused or harmed their children — calling some of the allegations “false” and disputing that legal support demands were fair or realistic.
In recent months, tensions flared again when Evans publicly stated she was facing homelessness and asked for help — a move disputed by Gruffudd, who released financial records suggesting she had substantial income, calling her claims a “fraudulent narrative.”
But now — with the closed hearing last week — legal insiders say there is “renewed optimism” that both parties might conclude a settlement “within weeks.” The main issues on the table reportedly include finalizing spousal-support amounts, assessing custody arrangements for their two daughters, and determining the continued scope and duration of the restraining order against Evans.
If settlement is reached, it could finally bring to a close what many have called one of Hollywood’s most bitter and protracted divorces in recent years. Friends of the family say both parents are eager to end the public, drawn-out legal back-and-forth — for the sake of privacy and especially for the wellbeing of their children.
That said — until all paperwork is signed — observers caution that a “settlement” may be fragile. With both parties having made serious claims against each other, any final deal may include confidentiality clauses, financial compromises, and conditions around contact, custody, and communication.
Still, the fact that both sides agreed to sit down privately in court is a significant move forward. For now, many will be watching closely to see whether this closed-door hearing finally marks the end of the drama, or just another pause in a long and contentious saga.
