Manchester United -Baas Erik Ten Hag is still on the market for a new striker this summer, but the potential transfer goal Goncalo Ramos is now ready to go somewhere else

The Manchester United seems to miss an agreement for the Benfica Goncalo Ramos striker after he has not halved the brilliant approval that the Portugal star was given by Bruno Fernandes.
The signature of an elite n. 9 was the most urgent priority of Erik Ten Hag on the road to the summer transfer window and it is expected that the Dutchman will continue his search for an attacker after in principle he concluded an agreement for the goalkeeper Andre Allana from Inter Milan.
There are already a large number of productive names related to a transition to Old Trafford, including Ramos, which has attracted attention to the World Cup. The 22 -year -old also enjoyed a beautiful national campaign with Benfica, where he looted 27 goals in all competitions.
However, United interest rate has not become so far in something that with Portuguese exhaust cm has now outlined that the French giants Paris Saint-Germain are on pole to collect the search for M (£ 68.5 m) proposed for Ramos. After initially spending £55 million on a deal for Mason Mount and agreeing a sizeable fee for Onana, Manchester United are unlikely to have the financial capacity to outwit PSG in the race to sign Ramos. take, which means the club and Ten Hag may now have to look elsewhere.
In a speech in May, Fernandes spoke of Ramos’ abilities and made it clear that his compatriot was capable of shining for an elite Premier League club like Manchester United.
Fernandes said via Record: “Here the best players are always appreciated, be it Goncalo or anyone else. I think he has all the qualities to play in the Premier League, and when I say in the Premier League, I mean Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes tipped Goncalo Ramos for a move to Manchester United in May (
“I think he can become a great reference in the coming years. But it’s still not in my hands, it’s up to the sporting director. When I’m in that position, I will make those decisions.”
While Ramos is believed to still be of interest to Manchester United, the club has been extensively linked to Atalanta prodigy Rasmus Hojlund in recent weeks.
The 20-year-old emerged as a target for United following a breakthrough campaign in Italy and the club are expected to step up their interest once the formalities of a deal for Onana are finalized in the coming days. Hojlund, a fully -fledged Denmark International, has already been the subject of conversations between Manchester United and Atalanta. United is willing to send Amad, who they took over from Atalanta three years ago, back to the Italian outfit on loan as part of every deal for Hojlund.

There are still shirt numbers left for Man Utd summer signings

Although Mason Mount wears the famous number seven shirt at Manchester United, there are still iconic shirt numbers available for potential newcomers to Old Trafford.
United’s new acquisition certainly has some big shoes to fill. George Best, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo all wore number seven and each wrote their name on the club legend with their stunning performances in a red shirt.
Erik ten Hag will make sure Mount isn’t the only new face in Manchester’s red half this summer. There are plenty of options for the Dutch manager, but with the start of the new Premier League season just over a month away, the United manager might want to go further. Here are some of the figures available for potential signings from United.

David de Gea’s uncertain future at Old Trafford means the number one shirt could be available next season. Technically, he is currently available as De Gea’s contract expired in June, although the negotiations between the club and the player are still ongoing.
Almost every great goalkeeper in United history has worn the number one shirt. Edwin van der Sar, Peter Schmeichel, Alex Stepney, Harry Gregg… the list goes on. De Gea has earned his place among them and has been the club’s number one since arriving 12 years ago.
Andre Onana, who is hoping to move to Old Trafford, would be the obvious candidate to take the top spot. The 27-year-old has already worn the number but prefers the number 24 having worn it at Ajax and Inter Milan, a number also available at Old Trafford.

While number three isn’t officially available, it likely will be soon. Current owner Eric Bailly has been consistently linked with a departure from Old Trafford and does not appear to be in Ten Hag’s future plans. After a season on loan at Marseille, it seems the lights are out for the centre-back.
Number three is traditionally occupied by a left-back at United, with some of the club’s greatest players. Denis Irwin wore it for just over a decade in the 90s and more recently the great Patrice Evra kept it for nine years.
With Ten Hag unlikely to sign another full-back, United could reserve the number for a potential incoming centre-back. Napoli’s Kim Min-jae would have been an obvious choice but looks set for Bayern Munich, while Munich’s Axel Disasi has also been accosted. The other alternative is for United to bet on Asamoah Gyan and offer him to their new centre-forward
No Manchester United signing has been able to get their hands on the number four shirt since 2011 as it belonged to Phil Jones. Having now left the club on a free transfer, he is finally available.
Quatre hasn’t had much success at Old Trafford lately. We have to go back to the early 1990s for a very good player, Steve Bruce, to wear the United shirt all the time. Juan Sebastian Veron was a flop while Gabriel Heinze was too fleeting. Again, this would likely be a number reserved for a new centre-back but could potentially go to a departing defensive midfielder. If ties are forged with Roméo Lavia, maybe he could be the man to fill them. The alternative is for Raphael Varane to adopt it, having worn it throughout his career in France, thus also freeing up his current No.19 shirt for someone else.

Number 13 is a number usually reserved for United’s reserve keeper. It hasn’t been worn since Lee Grant announced his retirement in 2022. He only managed two appearances there and shared the shirt with fellow goalkeepers Anders Lindegaard and Roy Carroll. If De Gea does not sign a new contract and Dean Henderson continues as planned, United could need two new goalkeepers, with one opting for an unfortunate 13.
Alternatively, he could be an outside number, as cult hero Park Ji-sung proved for seven years.
Other numbers available
15, 24, 30, 31, 32, 35, 37 and 38 are the other numbers under 40 available at Old Trafford.
The 15 would likely be inherited by Marcel Sabitzer if he joins permanently from Bayern Munich as he wore the number on loan at the club last season.
There is no obvious number for a new striker to take up this summer, a position United are keen to strengthen. The new Red Devils center forward should probably settle for a temporary number until Anthony Martial gives up the legendary number nine.
Possible exits for Harry Maguire, Fred and Alex Telles could also reset the number 5, 17 and 27 shirts respectively,
