Leicester City are “interested” in signing Manchester United winger Amad on loan in this summer’s transfer window.
That’s according to a report in the Mail, which said the Foxes are looking for a direct replacement for Harvey Barnes. Leicester are currently preparing for their first season in the league since 2013/14 and will be forced to sack some of their stars. Youri Tielemans has already joined Aston Villa while James Maddison has sealed a costly move to Tottenham Hotspur. Barnes is another player who has been heavily linked with an exit in recent weeks.
The winger, who scored 13 Premier League goals last season, is heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United. Interest was also credited to West Ham United.

As Leicester brace for a likely loss to Barnes, it has been claimed they have joined the race to sign Reds star Amad, who spent last season on loan with Championship colleagues Sunderland. The Ivorian, who started United’s 2-0 win over Leeds United in Norway last week, shone with 14 goals and four assists at the Stadium of Light.
Although United have planned to sign him this pre-season, several clubs have been credited with an interest in loaning him out, including Premier League newcomers Burnley and Sheffield United. However, Leicester are planning a quick return to the top flight and have taken a liking to the 21-year-old. The report says the Foxes “love” Amad but “recognize” they are in competition for his signature. Leicester have already signed two Premier League players this summer, namely Conor Coady from Everton and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly ‘considering’ joining the race to sign United defender Harry Maguire. That’s according to a report from The Sun, which said Londoners are considering the prospect of a surprise move.
Maguire, who was stripped of his United captaincy on Sunday, is one of the few players at risk of being sent back to Old Trafford this summer as the club desperately seek to raise funds to invest in signings. The England defender has dropped to fourth in the centre-back pecking order after a difficult 2022-23 season.
The England centre-back appeared in just half of United’s 62 games last season and started just eight times in the Premier League, meaning he was overtaken by Victor Lindelof in the pecking order by the end of the season . Some might argue that Luke Shaw is also ahead of him, despite the latter being a natural left-back.
The 30-year-old Maguire is valued at £50m by the Reds which means some suitors could be put off. West Ham United are also linked to hiring him.
