Manchester United new signing Andre Onana flies to the United States for the club’s pre-season tour today.

Onana arrived at United’s Carrington training complex on Wednesday to undergo a medical and obtain a visa to complete his £47.72million transfer.

The 27-year-old was due to fly to Manchester on Tuesday night but his flight was canceled meaning he could not be on board with his team-mates who had traveled from Manchester and Edinburgh, where United beat Lyon 1-0.

Onana queued at Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 before boarding an Aer Lingus flight to New York. Andre Onana linked with Man Utd and Chelsea transfer

The Cameroon international is unlikely to make his United debut against Arsenal at the MetLife Stadium on Saturday.

United will have five goalkeepers on tour after Tom Heaton, Dean Henderson, Nathan Bishop and Radek Vitek were called up to manager Erik ten Hag’s 31-man squad.

Ten Hag took Henderson despite huge interest from Nottingham Forest as they had not received an acceptable offer to sell the goalkeeper.

Forest initially offered a loan deal with a commitment to buy Henderson, 26, if he makes a number of appearances. Henderson’s season on loan at Forest was cut short by a hamstring injury which has sidelined him since January. Henderson underwent surgery in early May but is on the verge of a full recovery and hopes to be able to play again soon. He is still expected to be sold as United prepare to announce the signing of Onana.

Matej Kovar hasn’t rotated as he is expected to return on loan. Kovar came on as a second-half substitute in Unityed’s 2-0 win over Leeds last week and played the full 90 minutes in their 1-0 win over Lyon.
