‘Just wait the season until the league starts’: Jurrien Timber now sends five-word message to Lisandro Martinez on Instagram after Manchester United beat Arsenal
Jurrien Timber messaged Lisandro Martinez on Instagram after Manchester United beat Arsenal in a pre-season friendly last weekend.
United won 2-0 over the Gunners on Saturday thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho.
Arsenal were the architect of their own downfall as Aaron Ramsdale and Gabriel Magalhaes made costly mistakes which resulted in goals.
Despite some disappointing performances, Jurrien Timber impressed once again starting at right-back from the start. The Dutchman made a £38m transfer from Ajax this month and has excelled during pre-season. He faced one of his former teammates this weekend in Lisandro Martinez, with the two playing together during their stay in Amsterdam.
And Timber took to social media after the game to express his delight at facing off against his old friend in the States.
Timber sends a message to Martinez
Timber posted a photo of him next to Martinez after Saturday’s friendly in New Jersey.
The duo can be seen on Timber’s Instagram story and the Arsenal man captioned, “Good to see you bro,” along with a heart emoji.
Martinez made a big impression in his debut season with United last time out when he quickly secured a place in Erik ten Hag’s side. Arsenal hope Timber can make a similar impact in North London after leaving Ajax.
The 22-year-old has already shown some of his qualities on the ball and seems to fit in well with Mikel Arteta’s style of play.
Of course, the young defender is still in his early days, but it looks like Ben White will face fierce competition for a place alongside Arteta this year.
