Manchester United have reportedly been in internal talks over a proposed move for Amadou Onana.

After finishing third in the Premier League table last season, United continued their rebuilding this summer by signing Cameroon goalkeepers Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund for a fee that could include an additional £72million. Other recruits are still on the radar. However, given the interest in Sofyan Amrabat and other midfielders – such as Everton’s Amadou Onana – new signings will depend on departures and how that might increase the budget.

Amadou Onana has had close ties with United in the past, having received rave reviews for his performances in the Everton shirt. But will the giants of Old Trafford come?

Reports from The Mail show United’s interest as key figures behind the scenes continue to keep their eyes on United captain Tyler Adams as his future at Leeds United hangs in the balance. Both players are seen as alternative options to Fiorentina and Moroccan star Amrabat.

However, according to the same report, Everton intend to keep Amadou Onana this summer. He has capped six caps for Belgium while his contract at Goodison Park runs until 2027.

Elsewhere, where Harry Kane and his Tottenham future are still up in the air, the north Londoners have reportedly made a €24m bid for United club member Mehdi Taremi as a potential replacement for the England captain. Taremi, 31, currently plays for FC Porto.

The frontman has scored 80 goals in 147 games since joining the Portuguese side three years ago. Taremi scored 33 goals in 66 appearances for the Iranian national team.

Although he has been tentatively linked to signing him this season, United have pursued and signed Hojlund this summer in a bid to lighten the burden on Marcus Rashford this season. Kane is very interested by German giants Bayern Munich while Tottenham evaluate the market.
