‘I didn’t want to, but I was forced to post it’: Anthony posted chat with ex-girlfriend online and was charged with assault
Manchester United’s Anthony has hit back at Ingrid Lana’s assault allegations by sending a series of WhatsApp messages in an attempt to discredit her.
She accused the 23-year-old winger of pushing her against a wall after he tried to kiss her. Police in Sao Paulo and Manchester are investigating Anthony after his ex-girlfriend Gabriella Cavalina accused him of assaulting her four times. Anthony has denied wrongdoing. Last Thursday, two more women in Brazil came forward with allegations against the £85m player.
In another Instagram post, Anthony wrote: “I hate to do this, but I am forced to publish a small part of the WhatsApp conversation with Ingrid, which shows that we only had an intimate and consensual meeting. “This liar’s case will be settled in court!!”
Law student Reyes de Freitas claims she needed hospital treatment after the incident last May when she was attacked by Anthony and Brazilian Dudu’s ex-wife Mallu Ohana in their Land Rover after the trio left a Sao Paulo nightclub. . .
Lana later accused Anthony in a television interview. “He tried to have sex with me but I didn’t want to. He pushed me against the wall and I hit my head.”
United announced on Sunday that Anthony will remain away from the club until further notice. He was not suspended, but was given full pay to give him time to defend himself against the charges.
Anthony posted a series of posts on his Instagram account on Sunday night, which included four screenshots of WhatsApp conversations purportedly with Lana. He also wrote: “I didn’t want to do this, but I was forced to publish a small part of a WhatsApp conversation with Ingrid, which indicated that we had only had an intimate and consensual meeting.
“This liar’s case will be decided in court.!”
