‘Wise signing’ – Christian Eriksen gives his verdict on Rasmus Hojlund’s move to Manchester United
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen believes the club made the ‘wise’ call by signing his national teammate Rasmus Hojlund in the summer.
Hojlund joined the Red Devils from Atalanta this summer in a deal worth £72 million.
He is yet to open his account in the Premier League but has bagged three goals in two Champions League games already.
Eriksen acknowledges that the 20-year-old understands Erik ten Hag’s ideas.
He told Danish outlet Ekstrabladet: “We’ve been out to eat, he’s been over at my house, and we see each other every day at the club.
“I have given him my advice, and he has chosen to live close to the stadium and the training ground, so he has listened there.
“I think Rasmus has been a wise purchase. He’s a guy who fits into the squad, fits into the way of playing, understands the coach’s ideas, and he’s a good guy who works hard.”
Talented Rasmus Hojlund has a big future ahead of him
The Danish striker has shown glimpses of his talent that forced Man United to splash £72m on a 20-year-old.
He has the pace and strength required in a striker to thrive in modern football.
He has a good hold-up play and serves as a target man upfront.
His best performance for Man United came against Galatasaray in the second group match in the Champions League.
He scored twice against the Turkish club. He headed home smartly after receiving Marcus Rashford’s pacy cross.
His second strike was a combination of breakneck pace and great composure as he chipped the ball over the goalkeeper.
The goals aren’t coming as often as required for the youngster, but that is also because the Red Devils have failed to create this season.
Man United have spent heavily to sign him, and he looks like a striker who can dominate the football world in the future.
