Manchester United have entered the race to sign highly-rated winger Assane Diao from Real Betis, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The 18-year-old made his debut for the La Liga outfit last month and he has impressed with three goals from his opening five appearances.

The teenager has the ability to play on either flank and Fichajes report that his performances has grabbed the attention of the Red Devils.

United are looking for another talented winger to add to their ranks and Diao has emerged as an option.

However, the youngster won’t come on the cheap. There is currently a €30 million release clause on his contract with the Spanish outfit.

Diao has made a fine start to his career

The Spain Under-21 international has made just five appearances for Betis, but he has caught the eye with his distribution and creativity.

Diao has completed an impressive 86 per cent of his passes. He has also worked hard defensively with 1.7 tackles and 7.3 duels won per game.

His dribbling ability has also been mesmerising to watch. In our view, United could contemplate a possible deal for him if there is a departure.

Jadon Sancho’s future is currently uncertain at United after his public outburst over Erik ten Hag’s comments and he could be sold soon.

We would ideally prefer someone promoted from the academy, but it won’t come as a surprise if United pursue a young winger from overseas.

Diao’s current contract does not expire until the summer of 2027 and this could urge Betis to hold out for his buy-out clause to sanction his sale.
