Manchester United vs Copenhagen live score and goal updates as Harry Maguire scores

Man United take on FC Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday evening and will be paying tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s side have lost their opening two matches and sit rock bottom of Group A with zero points. They need to get points on the board when they take on FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford.

United have started to string a run of form together with the 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Saturday seeing them win back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time this season. United still have several players sidelined but Sergio Reguilon makes his return to action.

Meanwhile, United will host a special pre-match tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton ahead of kick-off in Tuesday’s Champions League match. Old Trafford turnstiles will be open from 6pm, with the club encouraging fans to take their seats early to pay their respects to the football great, who died aged 86 on Saturday. A wreath will be placed on Sir Bobby’s seat in the director’s box with players and staff to wear black armbands for the game.

Maguire’s resurgence
You have to be delighted for the centre-back after a bleak period in his career. He’s enjoyed a mini resurgence in recent weeks and that was a huge moment for the team.

What a moment for the centre-back, who enjoyed that.

Copenhagen counter-attack and almost find their main in the box but Lindelof clears.

This game is delicately poised with 20 minutes remaining.

Reguilon and Antony OFF.

60′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Another two changes
Lindelof and Garnacho coming on.

58′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSAMUEL LUCKHURST
Eriksen has changed the game
Eriksen was in my panel team and he is making a huge difference. United are unrecognisable from the first half and the next obvious change would be Garnacho, be it for Rashford or Antony.

57′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Heavy touch from Rashford
Eriksen with a lovely pass into Rashford, whose touch is heavy and the chance goes begging.

55′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Another penalty appeal
Rashford goes down and United want a penalty, but the move is flagged offside.

That would have been a penalty if not for the offside.

54′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Eriksen comes close
Eriksen with a brilliant strike and Grabara makes a strong save to deny him.

53′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON

VAR check and the referee’s on-field decision stands.

Copenhagen on the front foot
The away side have come out for the second half with intent and they’re on the front foot.

49′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Huge save
Onana makes a crucial save to deny Copenhagen an opening goal.

That was an excellent save, to the ‘keeper’s credit.

47′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Reguilon urged to shoot
The crowd urged Reguilon to shoot and he responded but the effort was blocked and cleared.

45′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Back under way
McTominay is playing the deeper role as a No.6 after that change.

HT – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Amrabat replaced
Eriksen ON.

Amrabat OFF.

HT – MUN 0-0 CPHSAMUEL LUCKHURST
Eriksen coming on
Eriksen is coming on and, as decisive a move as it is, it also highlights how misguided Ten Hag is becoming. United needed a conductor in midfield tonight but he went with one of his signings and someone who’s had key impacts in isolated moments. As good a goal-getter as McTominay is, he is not as good a footballer as Eriksen.

HALF-TIME!
That’s the whistle for the break.

44′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Rashford almost through
Rashford could have been through on goal, unmarked, but Reguilon can’t find him with the pass.

42′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSAMUEL LUCKHURST
Onana is a shadow of himself
United fans were on Rashford’s back again there and he responded by pressing and forcing the error. Impatience is already rife and a guy in front of us has just stood up with his arms outstretched after Onana ballooned the ball into the stands. Nobody is talking about his distribution because it’s been absent in recent weeks. He looks a shadow of the goalie in the Champions League final.

39′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Onana hits the stands
Onana’s distribution has been poor again and he’s just hit a ball into the stands.

37′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Copenhagen chance
This really hasn’t been a great performance from United again tonight…

Copenhagen have just fashioned an easy chance, albeit from long range.

34′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
McTominay heads over
McTominay wins a header in the box but it’s well over the bar – difficult chance.

32′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Copenhagen pressing well
Whenever United get the ball, they are given no time by Copenhagen players, who press well.

30′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
The crowd need more
The atmosphere hasn’t been electric but the players aren’t doing their part on the pitch.

28′ – MUN 0-0 CPHTYRONE MARSHALL
Copenhagen well-organised
United seem to have settled into the game now, at least. FC Copenhagen had five shouts and four corners if the first 15 minutes but haven’t been as much of a threat since then. United are having a lot more of the ball now but they are really struggling to make much of an impact against a well-organised side.

26′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Copenhagen enjoying the ball
Copenhagen certainly haven’t come to Old Trafford to be dominated and they’re enjoying their fair share of possession in this game. They’ve been well organised and each player knows their job.

24′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSAMUEL LUCKHURST
That’s more like it
Copenhagen are a more polished team than Galatasaray, who played in moments and ruthlessly exploited United’s errors. The Danes have a clearer structure and are more comfortable playing on the front foot. They have had as much of the ball as United so far.

United fans are struggling to get going and that is primarily down to the performance. United got going there; that was purposeful play by Amrabat and then Antony, much more effective when he gets the ball in the final third.

22′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
United break forward
That was a lovely attacking move from Antony, McTominay and Hojlund.

20′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Rashford cuts inside
Rashford tries his luck from distance after cutting inside but he was too far out.

18′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Bright work from Dalot
Dalot floats a cross into the box after beating the full-back and wins a corner for United.

17′ – MUN 0-0 CPHTYRONE MARSHALL
Superb from Rashford
That might be the second most impressive thing Rashford has done this season. That really is a world-class pass and not the kind of ball you normally associate with him. It’s certainly not an easy chance, but it’s the first real quality United have shown in this game. They look keen to get runners from midfield – Fernandes and McTominay – beyond the high line, but all it’s doing so far is giving FC Copenhagen space in midfield.

16′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Hojlund gets a shot away
Rashford plays a world-class pass into Hojlund and the striker fires over from an angle.

14′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Dangerous cross
Copenhagen look capable on the counter-attack and Varane’s just cleared a dangerous cross.

13′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSAMUEL LUCKHURST
Calm down, Antony
Ten Hag has just implored Antony to calm down. The only impressive contribution he has offered so far was a tackle inside his own third.

United have not got going and Dalot is edging out of his technical area to bark instructions at Dalot.

11′ – MUN 0-0 CPHTYRONE MARSHALL
Slopp and slow start
The tributes to Sir Bobby Charlton before kick-off were incredibly moving, it was lump in the throat stuff and you wonder if it’s taking these United players a bit of time to shake that from their system. It’s been a slow, sloppy start and FC Copenhagen should probably be ahead.

9′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Great pass from Maguire
Maguire just broke the lines with a pass to McTominay and United break forward.

7′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSAMUEL LUCKHURST
Copenhagen have started well
United can hardly blame the emotion of the occasion when they have been playing like this for a number of months. Where to begin there? Amrabat is slow and Maguire is casual. Copenhagen, like most teams at Old Trafford these days, are completely unfazed and they have asserted themselves impressively.

Their coach Jacob Neestrup called over goalkeeper Kamil Grabara during a stoppage, maybe offering a pointer after Hojlund pressed him hard.

5′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
CHANCE!
Wow, Copenhagen hit the post and United are fortunate not to be behind in this game.

4′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSAMUEL LUCKHURST
Unconvincing from Onana
And onto the football. That was unconvincing from Onana and it is just as well that most in the crowd won’t be aware how far wide that shot was going.

United have got three raucous sets of travelling supporters here for the group stage and that should only amplify the atmosphere. It helps the Sir Bobby Charlton stand is bookended by two vocal contingents tonight.

2′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
Poor from Onana
Onana has just conceded a corner when he really didn’t have to – the ball was going wide.

1′ – MUN 0-0 CPHSAMUEL LUCKHURST
Moving tribute
That was movingly choreographed and it is a pity the concept of a minute’s silence is lost on the referee, who blew his whistle prematurely. The lone piper will have evoked memories of the remembrance for Sir Matt Busby here in January 1994. A stiff upper lip was required just then.

The tribute from the Copenhagen fans was also a thoughtful gesture.

1’ – MUN 0-0 CPHSTEVEN RAILSTON
KICK-OFF!
We’re under way at Old Trafford.
