Manchester United desperately need to reinforce their backline and they have been linked with Goncalo Inacio for months.
After losing 3-0 to Manchester City at Old Trafford at the weekend, last night we suffered yet another 3-0 defeat, this time at the hands of Newcastle United.
Erik ten Hag must splash the cash in the winter transfer window to sign a central defender, who can replace the injured Lisandro Martinez at the back.
According to a story covered by AS today (press image provided below), Man Utd, Liverpool and Real Madrid are interested in signing Inacio from Sporting CP.
The Los Blancos want to move as early as January in order to beat the competition from the Red Devils and the Anfield club.
Back in August, Sporting CP were able to sign a contract extension with the 22-year-old and set the release clause at £52million.
The Madrid based media outlet claim that the value of the exit clause is well within reach of United, Liverpool and the Los Blancos.
According to Jornal de Noticias, to guarantee his signing in the middle of the campaign, the suitors will have to activate the £52million clause.
Inacio has won multiple domestic titles with Sporting CP and has been in top form this season with Lions sitting at the top of the league table after 9 games.
