It has been a calamitous season for United so far and they have now been defeated eight times in all competitions. That has ramped up the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.
MEN Sport understands some players are starting to doubt the Dutchman even though the former Ajax manager enjoyed a successful first season in charge with a third-place finish and Carabao Cup win. United’s defence of the League Cup came to an end against Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
Ten Hag and his squad return to Premier League action this weekend as Fulham welcome United to Craven Cottage. Despite their woeful form, United are favourites to get the job done in the capital. After some number crunching from the BetVictor supercomputer, they have been handed a 44.6 per cent chance of taking all three points.
Fulham have a 28.7 per cent chance of claiming the win and there’s a 26.7 per cent chance of the game being a draw. The same algorithm paints a bleak picture for the top-four push this season, though.
As things stand, BetVictor are tipping United to finish in ninth position with 59 points. That is behind sides like Aston Villa, Brighton and Brentford, with Manchester City big favourites to win yet another title.
