REVEALED: What Sheikh Jassim told Man Utd chief

Potential Sheikh Jassim, the owner of Manchester United, has no animosity towards any member of the team.

The royal family member from Qatar made a significant offer to purchase the club outright from the Glazers.

The offer was turned down, nevertheless, since INEOS’s Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to acquire a 25 percent ownership in the group.

Sheikh Jassim is still a supporter of United and hopes the team does well in the upcoming years, according to Sky Sports.

Qatar, however, has abandoned its quest to purchase United, so they will not be joining the competition again.

The Qataris did not want to be used as leverage to increase the asking price, even though they wanted to purchase United.

What happens next?

It is now up to Raine Group, the firm handling the sale of United, and the Glazers to evaluate all the proposals they have received and decide on the next steps.

It should be revealed next week if there is going to be one preferred bidder, or if there will be another round of bids.

‘Are the Qataris playing games?’

Sky Sports News chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol:

“Everyone is curious about the precise value of the Qatari bid, but that information is being withheld. The Qataris stayed pretty quiet all week, so I believe there were some suspicions that they were playing games with the delay in making their second proposal. A request for an extension was submitted on Tuesday, after which there was a pause until the bid was submitted overnight on Friday.

“We had information that the Qataris would always bid, but there were those in the US who were starting to question whether they would actually submit a proposal. They were simply being leisurely.

“One interpretation of this situation is that the Qataris are merely engaging in a small game of poker. Their goal is to slightly raise the Glazers’ temperature. Although they don’t want the Glazers to believe they are in a desperate attempt to purchase Manchester United, they are, of course, fully committed to doing so. All they want to do is make sure they are getting the greatest deal.”
