Manchester United are being linked with an array of experts for the recruitment reshuffle for when Sir Jim Ratcliffe arrives as a 25% minority stakeholder. The British billionaire is expected to take control of football operations at the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will bring change to the structure at Manchester United. If anything, that is what we’ve learned from the leaks thus far.

While Ratcliffe waits for his deal to be ratified by the Premier League, we’re being fed speculation about who could arrive as a result. Chief executive Richard Arnold has been sent his marching orders and football director John Murtough is expected to follow him out the exit door.

A report from The Telegraph states the Ineos chief, 71, is considering Atalanta’s head of senior recruitment, Lee Congerton, who previously played a role in United’s transfers for Harry Maguire (at Leicester City) and Rasmus Hojlund.

Congerton, 50, has previously had spells as a coach with Chelsea and Liverpool but now he’s in charge of recruitment at Atalanta. He also held a similar role at Celtic, as per The Mirror.

Another name that has been thrown into the mix is Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman, as a name recommended by Sir Alex Ferguson, although we believe former AS Monaco transfer guru Paul Mitchell is favourite to come in.

Former Liverpool chief Michael Edwards is also admired by Ineos as an expert in the field. He is not currently contracted to any club – like Mitchell.

It shows how bad things are when we’re looking at former Liverpool employees…
