United legend Ronaldo praises Man City
Ronaldo, who has scored 24 times in 25 appearances across all competitions this season, shared his thoughts on City at the Globe Soccer Awards on Friday.
City became the second English team in history to win a continental treble after lifting the Premier League title, the Champions League and the FA Cup last season.
Pep Guardiola’s men ended 2023 with a five-trophy haul, with City also capturing the Club World Cup and the Super Cup.
City striker Erling Haaland captured the Best Men’s Player of the Year award at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, with Pep Guardiola named Best Coach of the Year.
Speaking at the event, Ronaldo said: “Manchester City did amazing. Congratulations on their season. Players, coach. Superb.
“Finally, they win the Champions League, they probably deserved it two years ago. I enjoy seeing them playing.”
Ronaldo gives prediction for Man City
City walked away from the event in Dubai with the Best Men’s Club of the Year honour, with Rodri and Ederson also among the winners on the night.
The defending Premier League champions are still in the Champions League this season and City are considered one of the favourites to win the trophy.
City will face Copenhagen, who finished ahead of United in Group A, in their first-leg round-of-16 clash away from home next month.
Ronaldo said City have a strong chance of retaining the Champions League, with the ex-United star naming Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as his two other favourites.
“Manchester City have [a] good chance to win the Champions League again,” he said.
“Favourites? Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern.”
