Manchester United showed character in a win over Wolves which pushed the team right to the final whistle.Manchester United’s first half against Wolves was one of the best 45 minutes the team has put together this season.

United scored twice and had the ball in the net two more times, later disallowed for offside. Eventually the team won 4-3, courtesy of a dramatic Kobbie Mainoo winner.

By that time Lisandro Martinez had been substituted, but there was no doubt the Argentine had made a major impact on the game.

Manchester United look better with Lisandro Martinez

Manchester United fans were so impressed with Lisandro Martinez’s contribution to the win, setting the tone for the team’s superb performance, before Wolves were helped back into the game by the referee.

Martinez was praised on MUTV by former defender Wes Brown, who pinpointed him as the key man for Erik ten Hag‘s side.

He said: “It starts with him. He’s not afraid to play the passes with his left foot. It just looks good as a unit, everyone knows what they are doing.”

He was backed by former United ace David May, who commented: “Big performance from Martinez, good to see him back.”

Lisandro Martinez vital to the way Erik ten Hag wants to play

Erik ten Hag has been struggling to put out his first choice team this season, with a succession of injury problems.

This was Lisandro Martinez’s first start in the Premier League since September, and he looked very comfortable.

Ten Hag wants his teams to play out from the back, and Martinez is key to this. He needs a run of games, and goalkeeper Andre Onana needs him too.

Martinez had to bail Onana out early in the second half with a vital goal line clearance, which was just one of the many factors in Manchester United walking away with all three points.
