So, what has Rio Ferdinand said about Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo?
Rio Ferdinand comments on Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo
Well, Rio Ferdinand has been speaking about Kobbie Mainoo and has been hugely impressed by the Manchester United midfielder.
The former United defender has noted how calm and composed Mainoo is on the ball, but he has urged everyone to be patient with him and has also shared what he has been told about the 18-year-old, who could soon earn a call-up to the senior England team.
Ferdinand said about Mainoo on his YouTube channel: “It’s the calmness that stands out for me, it’s the decision-making and the calmness.
“I don’t think we should go overboard with him, but I think he is a very level-headed kid from what I hear and I have spoken to him a couple of times.
“He is very down to earth, surrounded by the right people. He is not going to be too high or too low, that good balance is what you need.”
Let us be patient with Kobbie Mainoo
In my opinion, Manchester United fans and football followers need to be patient with Kobbie Mainoo.
I do not think that anyone should go over the top with their praise for Mainoo. He is only 18 now and is just starting his career.
Mainoo has made only a handful of matches for the United first team. Yes, he has looked very good and composed and has impressed Roy Keane among others, but we must not forget that he is still developing and progressing as a player.
We have to wait and see how Mainoo does in the coming years. Opposition teams will do their best to figure him out and stop him from playing his natural game, and it will be interesting to see how he copes then.
