They both would have been on loan last year if Erik ten Hag had been a more experienced coach. Pundit identifies TWO Manchester United players who were the reason behind the team’s loss and says they ought to have been farmed out ever since last year.

Marcus Rashford’s performance against Fulham was branded ‘woeful’ as Manchester United crumbled to last-gasp defeat.

United were expected to continue their fine form at Old Trafford against Fulham and it looked like they salvaged a point when Harry Maguire equalised in the 89th minute after Calvin Bassey’s opener.

But Alex Iwobi scored a dramatic winner for the visitors in stoppage time to seal a 2-1 win.

While Erik ten Hag has had to deal with injury troubles, including in-form star Rasmus Hojlund, senior players such as Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro failed to step up.

Rashford, in particular, came in for criticism after failing to impress and not even looking like scoring.

talkSPORT’s transfer guru Alex Crook was among the furious voices, writing after Fulham scored: “Sounds like another pathetic #MUFC performance. Heart of a pea this lot.

“Lose a couple of key players and they wilt. Rashford woeful again. Waster.”

He was not alone – with talkSPORT pundit and United fan Mark Goldbridge also outraged.

On social media, he posted: “Rashford loses the ball on the break, doesn’t even track back. Take him off. No point if he’s not interested.”

When Fulham scored the opener, he added: “Always coming!

“Bruno and Rashford should be subbed off immediately. They just don’t get it anymore.”

Goldbridge continued his criticism of Rashford, while also singling out Fernandes, after Fulham’s late winner.

The United Stand host said: “You’ve got a guy out there in £360,000 a week – I’d rather have Postman Pat up front, at least he delivers. Marcus Rashford is a disgrace, an absolute disgrace for the talent he has.

“You have to question these players. It doesn’t matter who the manager is, Pep Guardiola, Erik ten Hag, Neil Warnock – if players like Rashford and Bruno are putting in a 4/10, you’re going to lose in the Premier League.”

Alas, United’s problem is that they are already down to the bare bones in attack – with Omari Forson making his first start for the club after Hojlund’s injury.

Amad Diallo was eventually brought on for fellow youngster Kobbie Mainoo while Antony was introduced in the last minute of the match.

Rashford is not the only faltering in front of goal with United scoring just 36 times in the Premier League this season.

That is the joint-lowest total in the top 10 – with Rashford netting five of those.

Bassey had put Fulham ahead from a corner before Maguire latched on to a mistake from Bernd Leno to score the equaliser minutes from full-time.

But former Arsenal and Everton star Iwobi landed the killer blow with a 97th-minute strike to hand all three points to Fulham.

It makes for a disappointing result for United, who had won four matches on the bounce in the Premier League prior to this weekend.

It also leaves their top-four hopes in tatters with fourth-placed Aston Villa beating Nottingham Forest to go eight points clear of the Red Devils, who are sixth.
