According to Richard Keys, Liverpool ought to do every effort to persuade Jurgen Klopp to remain at Anfield past the end of the current campaign. The 56-year-old recently said that he would be leaving his position in the summer, ending his nine-year tenure as the Reds’ manager.

Many well-known individuals have been connected to the impending Anfield managerial opening, with Roberto De Zerbi and Xabi Alonso emerging as early favorites. But according to Keys, Klopp is too significant to be allowed to go, and Liverpool should do all it takes to persuade him to stay.

Keys stated on beIN Sports, “You know who I would go after? What would you like, Jurgen Klopp? I would sit him down. Considering that you are staying.

“We will make accommodations for you if you could explain what it is that allows you to stay in this employment. It’s okay if it requires you to take Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off on some weeks. That’s also okay if your dream is to move to Majorca and live in your spacious new home.

“You are too big a character in and around this club for us to allow you to leave, and that’s not happening, so you tell us what we can do going forward to make sure you are happy in this job.”

Whatever Liverpool might be willing to provide Klopp if they decide to take Keys’ advice, it doesn’t seem likely that he would be willing to remain on. In an attempt to lead a “normal life,” the German manager has previously stated that he intends to take a vacation of at least a year after leaving Anfield.

In an extensive interview that followed the news of his resignation, Klopp stated, “I cannot just sit around, I will find something else maybe to do, but I will not manage a club or a country at least for a year, that’s not possible, I cannot do that and I don’t want to.”

“That is all.” I’m sitting here with energy and buzzing from everything that’s occurring, which makes it such an odd circumstance where I have to explain that I don’t have energy anymore. I have to consider this, though, because of the bond we have. I have to make this decision on my own because no one will fire me.
