OU’s Jeremiah Fears Named SEC Freshman of the Week — A Rising Star!
The Oklahoma Sooners just keep delivering big news, and this time, freshman guard Jeremiah Fears is stealing the spotlight! After helping lead the Sooners to a perfect 7-0 start this season, Fears was named the SEC Freshman of the Week, adding even more excitement to the team’s red-hot start.
Fears, who has been a key player for Oklahoma, shined in the high-profile Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. He kicked things off with a bang, scoring 20 points while dishing out seven assists and grabbing four steals in the first-round win over Providence. He then led the charge with 26 points in the upset victory over No. 24 Arizona, helping OU take down the Wildcats 82-77. He capped off the tournament with 10 points, four assists, and a team-high three steals in the championship win against Louisville.
Originally from Chandler, Arizona, Fears was a four-star recruit and ranked No. 63 overall in the 2024 class. He turned down offers from top programs like Arizona, Tennessee, and Creighton to join the Sooners. Now, he’s second in scoring for OU, averaging 16.9 points per game, along with 4.6 assists, 2.6 steals, and 3.4 rebounds.
With Oklahoma climbing to No. 21 in the AP Poll and sitting undefeated, the Sooners are ready for their next challenge. Catch them in action Tuesday against Georgia Tech in the ACC-SEC Challenge as they continue their quest for greatness with Fears leading the charge!
