6 things we learned from Manchester United’s 3-1 loss to Brighton; Where do we go from here?
Manchester United lost to Brighton at Old Trafford today, their first home defeat in the Premier League in more than a year.
Manchester United went behind in the 20th minute when former striker Danny Welbeck again headed home.
Despite falling behind, United were the better team before and after the Seagulls’ goal.
Two more Brighton goals followed in the second half, leaving United with a mountain to climb. Hannibal Mejbri came off the bench to rescue United with a stunning goal from long range.

Lazy defense attacks again
Brighton took the lead at half-time through Danny Welbeck in a first half based entirely on lackluster play.

United dominated, so dominant that they relaxed and allowed Brighton to counter-attack and take the lead.
Welbeck’s goal was inevitable, but to see it happen like this was horrific.
Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund form a dangerous duo
In the first half, Manchester United dominated, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund gave Lewis Dunk and his teammates nightmares. However, as usual, opportunities were wasted, leaving United with a mountain to climb.
Struggling in the second half, it quickly became an insurmountable challenge.
Overtaken by brilliant Brighton
The warning signs were there in previous matches, but the same problem persisted, a complete collapse in the second half.

The loss to Brighton itself wasn’t the worst ever, but the manner in which the defeat took place will disappoint fans.

Right after United’s 0-3 defeat, our young Moroccan player had a glimmer of hope.
Taking a shot from 25 meters away, Hannibal beat Jason Steele at the near post with an excellent finish.
What a goal from Hannibal, and despite a poor result, there was still a positive moment as he looked home at his best.
Andre Onana was shocked
Andre Onana is someone who has avoided criticism for much of the season.

Even though in other matches he conceded few goals, people admitted that he was not at fault, but today he played poorly. Poor distribution, and could have done better with the goals conceded.

Positive moments for United are not enough, especially when those moments are not exploited.
Brighton weathered the storm then punished United for having no answer in the second half.
