Liverpool’s number 4 was unavailable on the journey to Stamford Bridge due to illness. While Thiago has been out since early February due to a hip injury.

Injuries have apparently been a major reason for Liverpool’s poor form this season. Luis Diaz, injured in the second leg against Arsenal at the Emirates, was also absent for a long time.

During his press conference, Klopp said the Colombian won’t be available for the Arsenal clash.

“The plan with Luis is that he will be 100 per cent available for Leeds.

It looks good, everything is fine, but it was a long, long injury so you have to be careful. We probably won’t include it on Sunday.”

‘Van Dijk back in training, Thiago trained normally’ – Klopp ahead of Arsenal clash

According to 90min, Van Dijk will be back in action on Sunday and Thiago is expected to join him. “Virgil was completely normal during training. Luis and Thiago trained normally. Thiago looks a little different [from Diaz]. He hasn’t been out in that long.

He now he has trained three times, three or four times with the team. He might be available but we have to check how he feels [Friday].

Liverpool currently sit in 8th place, 10 points from a top-four finish. Although there are fears that Klopp’s men could find themselves outside the top four, it would affect their quest to sign their top midfield target, Bellingham, for next season.

With Brentford merging with the Reds on points, a loss to Arsenal would give Thomas Frank a chance to push Liverpool further.

With Van Dijk back in the squad, the Reds need to win their game against the Gunners and build momentum for the final games to secure a place in the UCL for next season.
