Jurgen Klopp has said Jude Bellingham still wants to sign for Liverpool from Borussia Dortmund
Liverpool have put on hold plans to target Borussia Dortmund and England sensation Jude Bellingham this summer
Liverpool have learned Jude Bellingham still wants to sign for them, despite Jurgen Klopp and the recruiting team pulling the plug on offers to target the English star this summer.
Speculation about Borussia Dortmund’s generational midfielder continues to rage as Liverpool hatch plans to revamp their engine room. However, Anfield’s interest in Bellingham has cooled due to the financial cost from fierce competition for his signing
The search for recruits for the midfield continues. However, according to a former Liverpool player, there’s a chance Klopp could make a U-turn if he reads the right signs.
Jason McAteer opened up about the ongoing Bellingham saga, telling beIN SPORTS: “I think [Bellingham] wants to go to Liverpool. I think it’s his favorite club.
But with the size of the surgery required, you can’t justify spending that much money. Liverpool are working on a sustainable model that has been running for five years.
McAteer, 51, who made 139 appearances for the Reds between 1995 and 1999, added: “I don’t think he would ever go to Liverpool. I think it was just a matter of timing. “If you look at the Cody Gakpo deal, they hired him for a relatively low price. If they had persisted, his price would have gone up and they would have had to pay more. So fight.” in a room with clubs that can throw money into it. It’s about timing.”
Liverpool ended their goalless run in emphatic style with a record-breaking game at Leeds United on Monday.
The Reds scored the goals in a 6–1 win, their biggest win for the Yorkshire side at Elland Road in history. Liverpool will now look to bolster their hopes of promotion to the Premier League table when they host struggling Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
And here we await the changes that Jurgen Klopp could make the next time his team are in action.
The need to encourage consistency and impressive second-half performances against Arsenal saw Klopp stick to the same starting line-up in the last two games.
So it would be surprising if a lot changed for the weekend, with the rotation coming more after the first of five games in 15 days comes against Forest.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ‘new’ role at reverse right-back makes him a favorite to start. Joe Gomez, who was not on the bench at Leeds, and James Milner are other options on the right side of defense with Calvin Ramsay injured, while left-back Andy Robertson is once again first choice for Kostas Tsimikas.
The same can also be said of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate as centre-backs. Joel Matip, Gomez and Nat Phillips are the other senior alternates. Alisson Becker is the first goalkeeper of Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian.
The emergence of Curtis Jones as a regular starter on the left side of midfield has been one of the most intriguing aspects of Klopp’s squads of late. Jones asked for an assist against Leeds and grew much more confident in the second half as he moved forward. However, Thiago Alcantara’s return to form has given Liverpool an option over the job.
Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have both started again, with the pair most likely to fight for the anchor role should Klopp try to change the engine room this weekend.
Harvey Elliott, who has played every game this season, hasn’t kicked the ball in the last three games while Milner has started a Premier League game since January. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Arthur Melo – all of whom will leave this summer – did not make the bench on Monday and Stefan Bajcetic is injured. Diaz decision
The return of Luis Diaz after a six-month absence has given Klopp a team scratcher in attack, although it seems unlikely the Colombian will get another start.
Diogo Jota ended his long scoring drought with a brace against Leeds after retaining his starting role on the left, but will come under pressure from Darwin Nunez, who also came off the bench to score.
Cody Gakpo and Roberto Firmino have each scored in the last two weeks and are the options in between. Mohamed Salah, capping off another 30-game season, is favorite to stay on the right side. Meanwhile, the less spotted Fabio Carvalho has played two minutes in the top flight since the World Cup.
