Liverpool fans were stunned after Newcastle took a remarkable five-goal lead against Spurs in the first 20 minutes.
Jurgen Klopp’s side may still have slim chances of finishing in the top four and were hoping for a win for the Lilywhites to keep the Reds firmly in the hunt for European qualification.
But with the gap now approaching nine points as Newcastle edge past Manchester United once again, fans could see the comic side of things not going in their side’s right direction.
Liverpool still have Tottenham and Aston Villa to play with a more than favorable run-in on their side, but with Newcastle continuing to rush towards European qualification, the task may have just gotten a little more difficult.
