Liverpool injury news latest as four players miss West Ham clash and loan star’s season over
Liverpool injury news: Latest updates ahead of the Reds’ game against West Ham United, with Thiago Alcântara and Luis Díaz having more action this weekend.
With just seven Premier League games left for Liverpool this season, the Reds side look in good form for the clash, with Thiago Alcântara and Luis Díaz both getting more injury minutes this weekend.
Whether or not Díaz is ready remains to be seen (an appearance on the bench would be much more likely), but Thiago is expected to push for a place in Liverpool’s midfield at the London Stadium.
Having the Spaniard fit would be ideal for the rest of the season, with Tottenham traveling to Anfield at the weekend and then tricky games with Fulham and Brentford to follow.
Liverpool simply need to win all of their remaining games to have any chance of a top four finish and the next two are arguably the toughest on the left flank.
Roberto Firmino
The Brazilian striker will still miss matches with West Ham and Tottenham and could even be out for longer, although Liverpool are hoping Firmino can return before the end of the season.
Firmino has a muscle problem which prevented him from winning against Nottingham Forest this weekend and his contract is due to expire, with the move to Barcelona (according to the Daily Mail) agreed before the end of the season.
If Firmino is unable to play this week, he has missed a total of 42 games with injury since the start of last season, which explains why the time is right for him to move on.
Naby Keita
Another who has been sidelined too often and his contract expired in the summer, Keita has been absent since his last international break, where he also developed a muscle problem.

He has since been spotted at the AXA Training Centre, but a return date has not been set and he is said to have played his last few minutes for Liverpool. The Guinean has loads of talent, but hasn’t been in form often enough to make the difference he could at Anfield.
Tyler Morton
The Liverpool loan midfielder will miss the rest of the season for Blackburn after breaking his foot in the recent league match with Preston North End.
Morton was injured in the first half but continued to play and was substituted with minutes remaining, but the setback was confirmed by his manager.
“He has a broken foot. He took it in the first half, he played the whole second half. He’s incredible, a tough guy,” Jon Dahl Tomasson told The Lancashire Telegraph.
“After that he couldn’t walk; he’s going to have surgery. It’s disappointing because it’s a position we’re extending. We’re disappointed. This is football, we can’t change it.” He was in a lot of pain at half time but played in the second half and it shows the character of the boy with a fracture.”
Morton’s loan spell was successful, but ended in disappointment. This summer, he hopes he has done enough to secure a place in Klopp’s squad.
Stefan Bajcetic and Calvin Ramsay
After the season started with Calvin Ramsay as a new signing and the players’ fans wanted to see more on the pitch, it was Stefan Bajčetić who established himself as the fastest first team.
But the two will miss the rest of the season and won’t be back until the summer when the duo will be part of senior pre-season training to make an impact next year as well.
Bajčetić and Ramsay could both have a bright future at Liverpool, but first they must overcome current injuries which have prevented further progress in recent weeks.
