Liverpool 3-1 Tottenham LIVE: Sorry Spurs surrender AGAIN as Mohamed Salah blasts the Reds off the mark with a three-goal replay of Newcastle Shambles on the cards within just 14 minutes
This is really a punishment for Tottenham. They can’t touch the ball and their players look totally shocked.
Liverpool had 70 percent possession, had five shots, three of which were on target and all went in. Ouch.
The flag goes up a little belatedly after Dier hits the ball over the top for Kane, who runs past Van Dijk. Instead of shooting Alisson, he tries to make things right for Son, who can’t reach him.
20′: Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur
That, for my money, is Tottenham’s first entry into the Liverpool penalty area. Not exactly good, Son crossed with his right foot into the arms of Alisson who launched another attack which led to another shot from Salah.
Liverpool had
17′: Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur
This is absolutely remarkable. The space is amazing, especially considering that they are meant to be played with a five-man defence, especially off the ball. Every time they win him back, Liverpool swarm and take him back with great ease. This is worse than men versus boys. They play with their opponents like a predator playing with its prey.
Gakpo, hitherto brilliant at dragging Tottenham Hotspur defenders along, tried again and cleared a shot which was blocked by Romero. Salah almost has a chance, but the ball spins away from him. Anfield is almost at a standstill because he is so shocked.
16′: Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur
“You are not fit to wear the shirt,” is heard from the Tottenham section. Some leave, and this is quite understandable.

Daniel Levy looks absolutely furious. Goal Mohamed Salah: Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur
Calm personified as Mohamed Salah put the ball straight inside and drove it inside. 3-0 Liverpool. Tottenham are all at sea, without padel or even, apparently, with a life raft. This game is over and things can get seriously messy again.
15′: PENALTY Liverpool
Animal and Romero, what are they doing? Gakpo is killed inside the area by Argentinian and Salah will be able to do three in 15 minutes.
12 ‘: Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
Klopp was very open to the tactical modifications that Liverpool made, his team very deliberately wanting to keep the ball more. They did this to a T-shirt so far this afternoon.
Jones, performing a depth game in the left channel, finds Gakpo through another gaping hole in the Tottenham back line. They cannot live with them at the moment. Son, Kane or Kulusevski have had more than one touch so far.
9′: Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
And breathe. Wow. What a start.
Liverpool have recovered somewhat in recent weeks. It wasn’t just the decision to field Alexander-Arnold in possession, but it helped somewhat.
With Klopp making the move earlier in the month, their record stands at three wins, one draw and this one still has some time to go, although it looks unlikely that they will drop points.
Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold now has six assists – and the trend is up.
GOAL: Luis Diaz Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
Another Newcastle? Liverpool certainly hope so. Jurgen Klopp can’t adjust his set this time. Luis Diaz makes two.
Liverpool turn up in droves again and Salah passes the ball to Gakpo. It looks like a shot on target but the Dutchman scores it on the touchline and Luis Diaz, making his first start since October, slips past Cristian Romero to make it 2-0.
There will be very, very fearful Tottenham fans in this away game. Surely no refunds for a second weekend in a row?
GOAL: Curtis Jones Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham
Oh no. Another disastrous start for Tottenham. Curtis Jones gives Liverpool the lead.
Liverpool had put Tottenham under pressure and committed the forward corps. Gakpo, playing in the middle, passes the ball to Salah, who tries to dance on the pitch but has a better option in Alexander-Arnold to pass the ball.
The right-back – or the midfielder? – sends the ball through the air for the first time to Curtis Jones, who hits the far post. Pedro Porro had lost his man and he deliciously pushed him past a helpless Fraser Forster.
Against Newcastle and Manchester United, Tottenham trailed 1-0 in ten minutes. 3′: Liverpool 0-0 Tottenham
Free-kick for Tottenham after Gakpo unfairly brought down Skipp. crowd not happy.
Signs, however, that the Liverpool counter-press is showing signs of life. Skipp was brought down about 25 yards from his own goal and swarmed by Liverpool players.
Klopp’s side are advancing the ball well. 1′: Liverpool 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur
Hojbjerg soon falls after being stepped on by Elliott. The younger one apologizes and puts the Dane back on his feet. Benign.
