    Highlight Video shows ‘Lots of damage’: Premier League pundit says two Arsenal players destroyed Newcastle

    Arsenal and Newcastle played an entertaining encounter at St James’ Park in front of Sky Sports cameras this afternoon.

    With both sides aware that a win would be huge for both of their goals, Newcastle and Arsenal both targeted them for the full 90 minutes.
    The first half was particularly exciting. The Gunners go into the break 1-0 up thanks to a goal from Martin Odegaard.
    But Newcastle also hit the post and got a penalty overturned by the VAR. On the Arsenal side, it was in midfield where they shined. And watching the Premier League productions, pundit Jim Beglin noted that the Odegaard and Jorginho dynamic created a real problem for Toon.

    “It’s too easy for Arsenal’s midfield, they’re starting to get it under control. Jorginho and Odegaard a little further up do a lot of damage. Work rate is one thing, ability with the ball is another.” Beglin said. “After the frenetic start it feels like Arsenal are a bit more measured in what they bring into midfield, but Newcastle need to be a lot tighter.”

    Odegaard’s first-half strike was his 15th Premier League goal in a superb season for the Norwegian. Jorginho, on the other hand, showed his class and experience in midfield.

    If Erling Haaland wasn’t so good this year, Martin Odegaard would be up there when it comes to best player in the league.
    He was exceptional for Arsenal. Brilliant throughout, Odegaard is proving to be a real boon for the Gunners. Jorginho, meanwhile, has shown what it’s all about. He held his position well in the middle and in a hectic 45-minute opener he was a calm header in attack. Mikel Arteta will surely have seen a lot of things that he liked.

    Odegaard and Bukayo Saka were on hand to stage a last minute comeback to pick up a point, a Mikel Arteta would be disheartened at the end.

    Manchester City then delivered a distinctive performance when they welcomed Arsenal to the Etihad Stadium and looked to have lost sight of the title race, but the Gunners came back to winning ways in the next match, putting Frank Lampard’s undersized Chelsea to the sword unsheathed.

     

    Arsenal went on a back-to-back winning streak as they beat Newcastle on Sunday. Odegaard’s strike put them 1–0 up early on and Schar’s own goal in the second half secured the points.
