Casemiro made his feelings about Neymar’s arrival at Man Utd very clear with the latest gesture
Manchester United already have several Brazilians in their ranks, including Casemiro, but the Red Devils could aim to add another in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro would help the Red Devils sign a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for superstar Neymar this summer.
The Barcelona ex is seriously considering leaving the French capital this summer, six years after his jaw-dropping £189m transfer from Camp Nou. Neymar’s contract with PSG doesn’t really expire until 2027, but with Kylian Mbappé now starring in the show at the Parc des Princes, the French giants are unlikely to stand in the way of the 31-year-old should he want to leave.
As a result, a number of clubs are monitoring Neymar’s situation and may be planning a summer attack against the iconic Brazilian. United are believed to be just one of them, although they are not top of the group at this stage, according to ESPN. The Red Devils could boast of having Casemiro in their ranks. The midfielder knows Neymar well due to his years of shared experience with the Brazil national team and has reportedly tried to convince the PSG star to prove himself in the Premier League.
According to L’Equipe, United are not the only English top-flight side to have shown interest in Neymar, but Casmemiro’s influence could help Erik ten Hag’s side negotiate a deal. The 31-year-old clearly has no objections to working with his Brazilian counterpart at club level as he claims he is helping United secure the superstar’s signature.
At the top of the United hierarchy, Neymar is rumored to be a heavyweight transfer that would help the club close the gap between them and local rivals Manchester City. As things stand, City are on course to match United’s historic treble performance of 1999. United need some sort of letter of intent to let their rivals know they are aiming for the title next season.
Neymar is likely to have already played his last game for the Ligue 1 titans, with the striker out until the end of the season after picking up an ankle injury in mid-February.
Following assessment by PSG’s medical team, surgery was deemed essential as initial scans of Neymar showed ligament damage and a sprained ankle.
The Brazilian went under the knife in March and hasn’t played for the club since. It is unclear whether his condition would worry those enthusiastic about a move to Old Trafford.
It is argued that the deal has left Neymar in better shape than ever and that he still has many years at the top level to offer and he himself may be tempted to move to Manchester.
