Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing Arsenal target Jurrien Timber this summer,
journalist Rudy Galetti has told GIVEMESPORT.
The Gunners have opted for Timber and Fabrizio Romano has said he has ‘agreed’ to join the Gunners but United cannot yet be ruled out.
Timber worked alongside Erik ten Hag during his time at Ajax before the Dutch manager moved to Old Trafford.
Antony and Lisandro Martinez have followed ten Hag to England and Timber was heavily involved in a move last summer.
The Mirror reported last year that United were in talks to sign Timber but nothing came of it.
Now the Gunners are in the running to secure his signing.
According to David Ornstein, Arsenal have made a £30m offer for Timber, but Ajax want around £50m for the young defender.
During his time at Ajax, Ten Hag praised Timber’s character in the dressing room and his versatility. He said:
“He (Timber) could even play at left-back or central midfield.
He won’t be Ajax’s first-team leader straight away, but he dares to speak up straight away. and was not shy in the locker room:
“These are important qualities to go far.”Galetti hinted that Timber was rated at ten Hag and United.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “Man Utd are looking for back-up solutions and Timber is one of them and Erik ten Hag knows him and appreciates him very well.
