Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were sent into hysterics by Ange Postecoglou’s teasing comment on the Manchester United legend’s failed managerial career.
Neville and Liverpool great Carragher were on punditry duty for Sky Sports on Friday night for Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. A victory which saw Spurs stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League table to five points.
After the match, Postecoglou joined the punditry pair for a debrief on the game where the Australian eventually aimed a cheeky dig on Neville. The laughter began when Carragher jokingly put it to Postecglou that his tactical approach amounted to doing whatever Pep Guardiola was doing at Manchester City.
“Because at the moment, you’re just copying Pep, aren’t you?” Carragher asked, which Postecoglou took in his stride as he replied with a wry smile: “Yeah so, I just study one game a week, I just look at what he’s doing and go from there. And You know what? There’s nothing wrong with that!”
It was at this point Neville jumped in to add: “I tried to copy him!” Which sparked wild laughter and also gave Postegoglou an opening he could not resist. “How did that go?” he asked which sent everyone at the desk into fits and starts.
Postecoglou has had a great start to life as Spurs boss and beat United in just his second Premier League game in charge. He will get the opportunity to show just how much he is ‘copying’ Guardiola when his side come up against City for the first time in the campaign on December 3.
