It is now really believed by Liverpool that a “very fast” title-chasing defender may arrive at Anfield.

Liverpool could make a January move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah amid a real belief that a deal can be done.Liverpool have seen Joel Matip go down with a major knee injury and that could bring down the curtain on his Anfield career.

Matip is out of contract at the end of the season and a new deal now seems pretty unlikely.

Liverpool went with Jarell Quansah alongside Virgil van Dijk against Crystal Palace and still have Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate too.

The Reds may consider another centre back signing though, especially with a Premier League title chase on the horizon.

    Liverpool considering Jonathan Tah move

90min now report that Liverpool are considering a move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.

It’s claimed that Liverpool ‘feel a deal could be done’ for Tah in January.

There is also confidence that Tah would ‘seamlessly slot into the side’ if he makes the move to Anfield.

Other names are in the mix for Liverpool, including Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix and Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo.

Tah is the one who Liverpool seemingly believe they can sign in January though and the Reds could push for yet another Bundesliga addition.

Liverpool signed three Bundesliga players – Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch – over the summer with Jorg Schmadtke using his knowledge of German football.

Who is Bayer Leverkusen defender Tah?

Tah was born in Hamburg and joined local clubs Altona 93 and SC Concordia before joining the Hamburger SV ranks in 2009.

Tah made his first-team debut for Hamburg at the age of just 17 and showed huge potential with the club, as well as during a loan spell with Fortuna Dusseldorf.

The 6ft 5in centre back joined Leverkusen in 2015 and has now racked up more than 300 appearances for the club.

Still only 27, Tah is now a key man for Germany and is currently in line to start at Euro 2024.

Described as ‘very quick’ by former Germany boss Joachim Löw, Tah is a key part of a title-chasing Leverkusen side but Liverpool seemingly believe that he can be snapped up.
